Patient alerts are visual indicators in the Patient Chart banner used to notify staff of a patient’s unique needs. You can use pre-configured alerts (available in Vetspire by default), create alerts for use by your organization, or add custom alerts to a patient’s chart.
Go to More > Admin > Configure > Patient Alerts to create and manage your organization’s alerts.
Default Patient Alerts
The following alerts are system-generated and are available for selection in every patient chart. These alerts cannot be edited.

Chemotherapy
Create a Patient Alert

Go to More > Admin > Configure > Patient Alerts.

Select Add Patient Alert.

Enter the Name of the alert. This is the name that will display in Patient Chart.

Choose a custom color for the alert label.

Select Save.
Use the dotted icons to the left of each alert to drag-and-drop the alerts in your determined order of priority. The alert at the top of the list is considered the most important and will always display first when added to a patient’s chart.
Add a Custom Patient Alert

Go to the patient’s chart and select + Add Alert.

Enter the alert name in the Custom alert field at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

Select + Custom Alert.
Notes About Custom Alerts

The colors of custom alerts are automatically selected by the system and cannot be changed.

Custom alerts only apply to the patient’s chart they are created on. They are not added to your organization’s list of alerts in your Admin settings.
