Non-Integrated Labs
Non-integrated lab results can be included in the Labs tab of a Patient’s chart or can be manually uploaded into the chart.
Non-integrated labs are often diagnostics performed by clinic employees and require the employee to collect samples, run tests, and gather results within the clinic’s lab, rather than using a test from an integrated lab partner such as Antech, Heska, or IDEXX to obtain results. Common examples of these diagnostics are heartworm and fecal tests - when ordered in an encounter, these diagnostics require the Vetspire user to enter the results manually.
See below for an example of a non-integrated lab order:
How to include non-integrated test results on the Labs tab
Set up diagnostic tests to appear in the Labs tab by ensuring the item’s product type is set to Yes for either the In-House Diagnostic? or Reference Diagnostic? located under Financials > Types
This is a permissions-based tab. If it is not visible, please reach out to a supervisor for assistance.
How to manually upload results into the patient chart
If a lab or reference lab machine in a clinic is not integrated with Vetspire, test results from the lab may be manually uploaded into the patient chart by following these steps:
Print and scan or save the results to your computer.
In Patient Chart > Chart, select Upload to open the Upload Document window.
In the Name field, enter the lab name and date the lab was run (example: Heska CBC 7/1/24).
In the Category field, select Diagnostics.
Select Choose File, then select the file from your computer.
Select Upload.
The file is saved to Patient Chart > Uploads. At this time, non-integrated labs do not display in Patient Chart > Labs.
