Tip: Non-Integrated Diagnostic Results

Patients may have diagnostic order results that need to be added to their medical record but that are not from a lab integrated with Vetspire. These results can be added to Patient Chart > Diagnostic or manually uploaded to their chart.

What is a non-integrated diagnostic result?

Non-integrated labs are often diagnostics performed by clinic staff, requiring the staff to collect samples, run tests, and gather results within the clinic’s lab (instead of using a lab integrated with Vetspire, such as IDEXX or Antech, to obtain results). Common examples of non-integrated diagnostics include heartworm and fecal tests.

In an encounter, you can add a non-integrated diagnostic in the Orders section using the Search for order to add field. When ordered through an encounter, non-integrated diagnostic results must be entered manually.

Do not use the + Order Diagnostic button to order non-integrated diagnostics. This button is intended only for labs integrated with Vetspire.

How is a non-integrated diagnostic result included in Patient Chart > Diagnostic?

In the settings for the product type that the non-integrated diagnostic is assigned to (in Financials > Manage > Types), either the In-House Diagnostic? or Reference Diagnostic? option must be set to Yes. This enables the system to list non-integrated diagnostics in the Diagnostic Results table of Patient Chart > Diagnostic.
