Client or Patient Search

Search for a client or patient in the Global Navigation search field by name, phone number, client ID, or patient ID.

Search results populate in the drop-down menu. Select your desired client or patient to open their profile.

If your organization has multiple locations, you can toggle on Show current location only to see search results for only:

  • clients who have your location set as their Primary Location

  • patients with previous activity (encounters, invoices, etc.) at your location

Vetspire Recommends

Search by the client’s phone number to narrow your search results.

Patients with linked associates are identified with icons in search results.

When you search for a client, the client’s associated patients display, along with any patients for which the client is the primary owner.

The people icon indicates that the patient is an associate of the client. The number of associates linked to a patient displays next to the patient’s name.

When you search for a patient with multiple associates, all associated clients display in the search results.

I searched for a patient by their ID, but the incorrect patient is included in the search results.

When you search for a patient record by Patient ID and the incorrect patient returns in the search results, this is likely because the Patient ID is very similar to another client’s phone number. (Example: Patient ID is 123456789, and a different client’s phone number is (512) 345-6789.) We recommend searching by the correct client’s phone number in this scenario.

The client/patient is displaying as duplicated in the search results.

The search results will display the client/patient more than once when:

  • the client profile has the same phone number saved in multiple fields

  • the patient has one or more linked associates that have the same phone number as the client

We recommend that phone numbers are entered only once per client and associate.

I cannot locate the client or patient using the Global Navigation search.

If the client or patient is not included in the search results at all, use the search tool on the Clients page. Use the filter fields to enter any known information or demographics regarding the client. Ensure that the Only Active Clients and Only Active Patients filters are turned off to widen your search to include patient accounts that may be marked as Inactive or Deceased.
