Boarding

The Boarding module is designed for practices that offer overnight and temporary lodging services for patients. Through Vetspire, you can book reservations and track patient stays in specific boarding wards and kennels.

Before You Get Started

You must first configure your boarding wards and kennels for your location in More > Admin > Locations. See Manage Location Treatment and Boarding Kennels for more details.

Once your boarding wards and kennels are configured, you can manage reservations blocks in Boarding, accessed from Global Navigation.

Select the day and time to create a new reservation and enter the patient's name. Select the check-in and check-out timeframe and the desired ward and kennel. The Boarding module will only show available kennels. Select the desired reservation slot and make the necessary edits to edit a reservation.

Creating a boarding reservation does NOT create an encounter.

Boarding Schedule Calendar Functions

Filter: Arrows maneuver week to week on the calendar.

Today button: When you arrow or move off of “today”, clicking on Today brings the user back to today’s date. This option only shows when you are moving out of the 7-day window.

Today's day is annotated with the date highlighted in blue.

Week vs Day view: This option gives a user the ability to see a day or week view with the date from the calendar selection.

When viewing the day view, filter the reservations by arriving and departing to give staff information to help them better prepare for the boarders coming and going.

Deletion log:  Located at the bottom left side of the screen. This displays deleted reservations.

New reservation button: Click the reservation button, to open a window for a search bar to search for patients.

See the last 5 records opened for quicker access to create a reservation.

Customize the Schedule by Collapsing Wards: Collapse the wards to control the screen output.

AM/PM: to see half-day and single-day boarders or AM/PM Check-out to keep kennels to capacity.

  • When creating a reservation, set a reservation to start or end with am or pm for the ability to schedule a boarder to leave in the morning and another to arrive in the afternoon.
