Covetrus (vRxPro)
Covetrus® is a global animal-health technology and services company that offers online pharmacy and home delivery solutions.
Vetspire has a two-way integration with the Covetrus vRxPro® online pharmacy solution. This means that Vetspire client, patient, and prescription data is sent to Covetrus for ordering, and Covetrus sends prescription status information back to Vetspire.
Contact Covetrus vRxPro Support to set up your integration with Vetspire.
Contact Covetrus vRxPro Support at (877) 999-CVET (2838) or practicesupport@covetrus.com for setup assistance. They will provide you with your Covetrus Context Key to enter in your Vetspire Admin settings.
Covetrus Integration Features
Covetrus prescriptions display in Patient Chart > Medications with an ‘External’ tag. The name of the medication matches the product name in Covetrus and includes the strength and dose size.
Additional details are included in Patient Chart > Medications for each Covetrus prescription:
Directions, when applicable, display under the product name.
Notes includes the Covetrus base product name, the vRxPro MC/Searchable number, and the name of the provider who authorized the prescription.
The Frequency column will always display ‘See Notes’ because Covetrus products have different sets of frequency noted in the medication information (with Notes).
The Quantity column displays the Max per Fill from Covetrus. This represents the number of units the client is allowed to order at a time.
The Date column displays the date the prescription was created, and the Expired column displays the date the prescription will expire for the client.

What is a unit?
A ‘unit’ is the lowest available dose form of the medication that can be provided.
For example:
A 3-pack of Nextgard displays a quantity of 3 to represent the number of doses available in the package for the pet.
A bottle of 30 tablets displays a quantity of 30 to represent the total number of tablets available to give to the pet.
Why is the ‘Refill’ column blank for a shipped Covetrus order?
Because clients can choose to order less than the Max per Fill quantity for certain products, the number of refills may not accurately reflect the total number of available quantities that the client can still order. Refer to the Units Remaining in the prescription Notes to see how many units are available for the client to order.
