Troubleshooting PetLink or Datamars Microchip Registration
This article describes common errors that may occur when registering a PetLink/Datamars microchip and steps to resolve each error.
Error | What does this error mean? |
---|---|
Login Failed / Failed to Log into API | The PetLink Username and/or Password entered in your location settings are/is incorrect. Re-enter your PetLink credentials in Vetspire. |
Failed to Validate Pet Object | The patient is missing required information, such as breed, species, coat color, or gender. Enter this information in Patient Chart before registering the microchip. |
Transponder is Not Prepaid | The microchip number entered in Patient Chart > Info is invalid (missing digits, too many digits, or incorrect). PetLink/Datamars microchip numbers should be 15 digits long and start with “981.” |
Required Parameter is Missing | The client is missing required information, such as phone number, email, or address. Enter this information in the client profile before registering the microchip. |
Vets Cannot Transfer Pets | The microchip number has already been registered with PetLink/Datamars. Contact PetLink Support to confirm the patient’s microchip number. |
